Associate Professor Lê Bộ Lĩnh, Director of IESS, hosted the reception and discussions. The meeting took place during Mr. Kőrösi’s visit to Vietnam to attend the “Quy Nhon Dialogue on Climate and Transformation.”
Mr. Csaba Kőrösi is a Hungarian diplomat who served as President of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly from 2022 to 2023. Throughout his career, he has championed multilateralism, sustainable development and a stronger role for science in policymaking. His presidential motto, “Solutions through Solidarity, Sustainability and Science,” reflected an approach that brings scientific knowledge and international cooperation together to address global challenges.
In a cordial and open atmosphere, IESS outlined its development priorities in strategic research, policy advice and knowledge exchange in support of socioeconomic development. The Institute places particular emphasis on expanding its relationships with experts, research institutions and international partners to share experience, enhance research quality and develop collaborative activities aligned with Vietnam’s needs.
The working session provided an opportunity for IESS to explore ways to strengthen connections with international expert networks and potential partners. Mr. Kőrösi’s and Ambassador Dương Chí Dũng’s experience in multilateral affairs and diplomacy offered valuable perspectives on the Institute’s efforts to expand international cooperation.
Alongside the working discussions, the programme offered an opportunity to introduce Mr. Kőrösi to Vietnam’s cultural and historical heritage and distinctive culinary traditions. These exchanges helped deepen mutual understanding and strengthen personal connections, laying a favourable foundation for future cooperation.

Drawing on IESS’s research priorities and Mr. Kőrösi’s areas of interest, potential cooperation could focus on knowledge exchange on sustainable development, strengthening links between science and policy, and broadening international dialogue on development issues. Continued engagement with Mr. Kőrösi could help the Institute connect with wider expert networks, identify research partners and engage speakers for international conferences. These are promising avenues for further exploration, with a view to developing concrete collaborative activities over time.
The programme reflected IESS’s commitment to international engagement and knowledge exchange, supporting its research and policy advisory capacity and its contribution to Vietnam’s development.
