Building on the positive outcomes of the working visit to the Russian Federation by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Bo Linh, Director of IESS, during which he attended the Eastern Economic Forum 2026 (EEF-2026) and the Vietnam-Russia Science and Technology Forum themed “Connecting Strategic Technologies,” IESS has intensified its engagement with Russian partners to translate shared cooperation priorities into concrete initiatives in scientific research, policy advisory services, and knowledge exchange. These efforts have taken place against the backdrop of continued efforts to strengthen the Vietnam-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership through high-level diplomatic engagements and expanded cooperation across multiple sectors.
As part of these engagements, IESS and representatives of the Vietnam-Russia Knowledge Network held discussions and reached a common understanding on cooperation priorities, areas of collaboration, and coordination mechanisms. On September 29, 2026, in response to the invitation extended by the Russia-Vietnam Cooperation Development Foundation “Tradition and Friendship” and the Network's Coordinating Council, IESS formally confirmed its acceptance of the invitation to join the Vietnam-Russia Knowledge Network as a full member.
IESS's participation in the Network is particularly significant in the context of 2026 being designated as the Vietnam-Russia Year of Science and Education. It is expected to facilitate closer cooperation among universities, research institutions, experts, and businesses from both countries in science, technology, education, and innovation.
For IESS, joining the Vietnam-Russia Knowledge Network not only broadens its international partnerships but also creates new opportunities to strengthen connections with Russian universities, research institutions, and experts, promote academic exchanges, and undertake joint research on economic and development issues of strategic importance to both countries. It also provides a platform for IESS to further develop its role as a bridge connecting research institutions, policymakers, and the business community, with a view to advancing collaborative research initiatives that deliver both scientific value and practical applications.
Following its decision to join the Network, IESS has expressed its readiness to work closely with the Russia-Vietnam Cooperation Development Foundation “Tradition and Friendship” and the Network's Coordinating Council in implementing joint activities. IESS also looks forward to continued support and facilitation from the Network in expanding partnerships with Russian universities, research institutions, and businesses, gradually developing joint research programs, professional exchanges, and concrete cooperation initiatives.
IESS's official participation in the Vietnam-Russia Knowledge Network represents another important step in expanding its international engagement. It reflects the Institute's commitment to actively participating in international research and knowledge networks and promoting scientific cooperation aligned with economic development priorities and policy advisory needs. Through these efforts, IESS aims to make meaningful contributions to strengthening scientific and technological cooperation, advancing knowledge-based collaboration, and further deepening the Vietnam-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership./.
